Television simulcasts

I'm not sure if anyone remembers, but back in the old days (probably when Sirius and XM were two separate companies) they had stations for the Discovery Channel and A&E. From what I understand, they were basically simulcasts of those two channels, but audio only. This seems like an interesting concept to me, so does anyone remember when this was a thing, and what programs were broadcast?
