There's an article in Bloomberg about how AI creates massive energy demands. It's easy to imagine a future state of fusion and renewable energy powering AI (and everything else), but getting there is going to be a huge challenge. We need to invest massively in power generation, storage, and transmission. Anyone fearful of being out of a job because of AI, this is an area where you can re-specialize. Become an electrician / lineman. Or get into the energy sector.
This begs an interesting set of questions: how big will AI get? Will it grow infinitely or will it moderate itself and choose constraint? Will it require that much of humanity's resources go toward powering it? Will AI finally be what gets us (forces us?) up the Kardashev scale?
