when i was a kid, i was incredibly transfixed with video games. all i wanted to do was play games with my friends and fill in the blanks of these virtual worlds with my imagination, something not possible a few decades ago. i soaked up media like a sponge. i knew what was real and what wasn't, obviously, but marketing is a science. a science folks are still honing and trying to understand. growing up, i feel like i've had my fair share of garbage content to entertain me. mind-numbing stuff.
if ai continues to advance at the rate it's going, and kids grow up with incredibly immersive, life-like virtual worlds, how will it impact their development? there's a stunning amount of children who are fed ipads to stimulate their brain (or rot them, depending on who you ask). throw in the possibility of immersive vr and a kid can go anywhere they want, AND fill in the blanks with their imagination. humans are good at that, especially small humans.
ai will teach students in a zoom sponsored 3D call. anything you want will be at your fingertips. generated, infinitely replayable worlds, with content being added every couple of days. an ai will create 3D generated models and textures, have multiple actors "review" them to compare to their supposed counterparts. it will build and test itself, and will be looked over by people who might have to correct here or there. eventually that won't matter.
how will children discern reality? growing up in a world where advertisements can have free estate in a world? where capitalism will bleed every last drop out of AI until it washes over. one day, people will say "fuck it, i'm attaching a feeding tube of nutrient paste to my headset to live, breath, and exist within whatever fantasy AI cooks up for me." and further down the line AI generated media, content, film, etc. will become our reality. our senses will be fooled by the information whirlwind that won't have an up or down.
how will the future generations adapt to the curve's environment? how will a child develop when their gluttonous curiosity is forever satiated? are we doomed to forever search for whatever makes our brains tingle?
