Breath support didn't really make much sense to me intuitively, because although I was following the advice of breathing in from the diaphragm, I was still struggling to sing without tension and without clarity.
Anyway, I eventually figured out how to sing today without tension (going up and down in pitch) and I think maybe breath support is only one part of the equation, and really the whole point of breath support is to sing without tension?
I think that's where I was getting tripped up, thinking that proper breath support would solve all my problems, when really singing without tension is actually what people mean when they talk about breath support, in the sense of what it aims to achieve, and at least in the context of those who are breathing from the diaphragm.
Sorry if this is all rambling :)
