So over the past year I've noticed myself having a harder time singing high. In fact, my whole range dropped. I went from B4 to B2 down to F#4 to E2 in two years. Now in this time I also learned significantly better technique, but even a couple months ago in lessons, I couldn't go much above a G. So because of that, I trained as a baritone this past year, even though the previous year saw me trained as a tenor.
However, since the removal, I'm able to float way higher than before. I can sing high Cs that sound alright without hurting myself. Everything is so much freer at my top end now, it's great. That said, I'm not sure if I can even go to a low F anymore. So I think the wires from my braces were cranking on my jawbone this past year to the point where it elongated my vocal folds (there was a lot of movement the first year, then banding them hard together this past year) and upon removing them they've re-shortened and I can sing higher now. But I'm not sure. I'm hoping to continue doing voice lessons during grad school (I'm doing a PhD in chemistry), cause I'm pretty sure I'm gonna be trained as a tenor again.
Does anyone have any experience with having braces put on and taken off all within the course of voice education? I wanna know if this is normal.
Also I was hella excited about being able to sing super high now.
Thanks!
