Are MRT escalators slower now?

Certain areas such as idk Yishun & Chinatown have very slow escalators (catering to the large elderly population I suppose), but the escalators in CBD areas are generally very fast!
However, I was at Raffles Place a few days ago (during off peak times), & it was SOOOO SLOW!
Just wondering if anyone else has noticed any changes?
