tldr; Company bo lui. Pay delay every month. How sia?
Sorry if this is not the place to post, and not sure what Iām hoping to get by posting this (ideally advice, hopefully not criticism). But Iām in a sticky situation and am wondering what are my options.
Backstory: I have been working for a local SME for the past 11 months. There are plenty of red flags from this company, even before I joined, but I was too desperate and too stupid to realize til a few months ago. I do enjoy what Iām doing, and my direct superior is an admirable woman to work under. Ideally, Iād hope to stay with the company, but am casually job hunting. Juuuust in case.
Presently: The company is in deep shit. Due to the directorās irresponsible spending (i.e: āwork lunchesā with own employees, ordering alcohol at fancy clubhouse during office hours), I wonāt go into detail, but the company owes quite a lot of people quite a bit of money.
Our salaries are delayed without fail every month. But we small fish are lucky enough to still receive our pay after a 2 ā 6 days delay. My claims, however, have not been paid for over half a year (over $1,000 accumulated, supposed to receive approx. 2 months after claiming). My direct superior on the other hand, has mentioned that the company hasnāt paid her in a few months (not sure whether she is to be believed?) Sheās still surviving coz sheās from a well-off background, with a rich, supportive husband. Iām single as a pringle and broke as a joke.
As the salary delay period is less than the MOM stipulated 7 days, is there anything I can do to take action against this company? How about my claims? Is TADM the only option? Or should I just suck it up.
Before anyone criticizes me, I do have savings. But it is very inconveniencing to not receive my pay, especially when everyone around me is enjoying their #TGIF #paydayyy
