Monitor Debate
Post Body

So with how my rig is set up, I know my next step will be some sort of dedicated monitor stand and an upgrade of monitors. Right now I’m using a LG 55” 4K TV with a 60Hz refresh rate sitting at a distance of 56” away from my eyes. Not ideal in the slightest for distance but the view is great and the image is obviously quite crisp. But driving 4K graphics at a high setting in iRacing and ACC is a challenge and generates FPS of around 80, which is capped at 60 because of the refresh rate of the TV.

My thoughts have been leaning more and more to a 49” ultra wide which I can put on a stand and move much closer to me than where the TV sits currently. My concern though is the loss of vertical visibility that I currently enjoy with the TV. The positive trade offs though are roughly 300,000 less pixels to drive, at a lower resolution being 1440 vs 4K, and the ability to use DisplayPort which my TV doesn’t support.

Will I seriously notice the vertical loss when moving the monitor much closer, or is it better to try something like triple 32s but at 1080p to try and gain more screen real estate back?
