iRacing: Mirrors… On or off?

I’ve been ghost racing for a few days to gain experience in Ferrari Challenge. Then I often go into the top 5 cockpits to see what they’re doing. I noticed almost ALL these top drivers have their mirrors turned off. So, the past 2 days I’ve been trying it. I’ve consistently finished P5-P3 in my last 5 races. I was normally always a lap down.
So I guess my question is: Are you a mirrors ON or OFF driver, and why?
Adding: I do race with the “Crew Chief” app and the spotter is awesome.
