Okay, so I painted my nails for the second time ever. Maybe some tips?
When I miss, I really miss and no clean up brush will help. I need a cleanup brush the size of a paint roller. Would you have just acetoned (a new word!) and started over on that finger?
I wound up making my left thumb too thick, I think. While it looks nice now, it took SEVERAL HOURS to fully dry and I dinged it once. I know I did it partially because it took me quite a long time to do my nails and I was getting fatigued and wasn’t careful when I dipped the brush back in. Should I have acetoned that thumb and did it again? Whole session was probably 2.5 hours.
Speaking of thumbs, in Crisitine’s 101 (stream highlight) video, she talks about how to load the brush. I try to follow that and sometimes it doesn’t come out that way exactly. Either way, I’ll do the best I can. On the thumbs especially, I am more likely to run out of polish. Should I do a second coat when that happens?
Speaking of second coats, I know One Coat Black does what it says on the tin, but does that mean one generally would do more than one with the others?
Thanks all! This time, I did: Smoothing (1 coat) -> Color (crème, but forget name) (1 or 2 coats) -> Glossy -> Matte. I’m not sure I like the Matte because it really brings out the imperfections in my nails. I have a lot of ridges on some of them. Maybe I should have done more smoothing…
When it comes to actually painting the nail, I think your best friend will be stability. I always have my hand on the table and the arm I’m painting with is usually pressed into the side of the table to keep it from moving too much. That helps me anyways. But with more practice you’ll get better. Hope that helps 💕
