I’ve been experimenting with keto diet, and the biggest inspiration has been how much highly-processed food our society is accustomed to. I used to eat out most of the time (busy/lazy life), and always chased “the healthy packaged food”, which now I realize was terrible for me. So much added sugar, vegetable seed oils and simple carbs. Documenting my nutrition through keto diet has been a huge realization.
Now I plan to transition from keto to a whole food based diet, with goals of building muscles, reducing body fat and keeping my heart healthy (trying to reduce cholesterol levels even before keto). What I learned from keto is that eating non-processed food is actually very satisfying, both physically and mentally. And it usually saves even more time compared to Ubereats, which is crazy to me.
I have also learned that the foods I like to eat everyday repeatedly are very very simple: Fruits, vegetables, nuts, tofu, chicken, eggs and fish. Half of my meals are simply air-fried choice of protein (favorite is salmon), with one or two spices and nothing else. I try very hard to keep all non-produce foods I buy to one or two ingredients, like spices, mustard and peanut butter, and I plan to start learning how to make condiments at home.
I love walking into a grocery store and only focus on the produce section, and walking past all the aisles feeling proud that I’ve made a decision to no longer put those products into my body. Shopping, cooking and eating have all become so simple. It’s a great feeling!
