Post Body

I'm looking to stick to as local as possible on everything.

My wife and I have traditionally been pretty nomadic due to school and work. In our twelve years together, we've lived in nine different places for Valentine's Day. I have a kind of tradition for V-Day that I enjoy and would like to continue. Normally, I'm out and about in the community and get a sense of these things but with the pandemic and all, I need to turn to the virtual sources.

One of my 'traditions' is to start the day with a breakfast that represents the local cuisine... Forgive me, but what would you say is Silverton's cuisine? I see that berries (strawberry, blueberry, blackberry, ...) are all grown here but what else? Is there a Silverton breakfast of sorts? Hot cakes? Coffee type?

Next up we would spend the day hiking or exploring. Of course Silver Falls comes to mind but I am sure that it'll be busy and we've already spent a lot of time there - it's a great place! Anywhere else that is local that we should be checking out?

Dinner? Really impressed with Noble Fox but they don't do reservations - argh! Guerra's is okay but seems to be hit-miss and I haven't heard about reservations. Magnolia Grill we're not really fans of but maybe if they have reservations and a special menu. Are we missing anywhere? I don't mind cooking and likely this will be what I do but I want to be sure that I've checked everything off first.

Afterwards, and this may sound cheesy, but I love a good make-out point. LOL! Yeah, we're in our early thirties but there's still something special about going to a lookout and snuggling up while dinner settles. In the past we've been fortunate to avoid the cold rain and this will likely be a first for us. Again, local is key. And no, we won't be doing anything that lands us in trouble. LOL.

Gifts? She loves -and really only 'allows' due to our traditionally nomadic life- small gifts. Jewelry, nice handmade trinkets, that sort of stuff. I like them to be made locally. I was disappointed in the couple of shops that I walked through because they all had 'Made In China' stickers on their "Local" gifts. Am I missing anywhere to look? Are there any local makers on Etsy that I should check out?
