Did the Silicon Valley Boom Burst?

I am currently in a CS program and I have friends near Silicon Valley and once I am done in a year and a half I was thinking of scouting out some opportunities in the Bay Area. My question is would you say this is like 2001 or more of a blip on the radar? Thanks.
