Is take a trip right for me if I am fighting depression?

Hello,

I am hoping this is the place to ask. I have never been on a trip before and I am afraid to. I have been fighting depression for years now (probably 10 or more). I have tried therapy and prescriptions etc. I don't feel any of those have worked or I wouldn't feel like I am getting more depressed in my search for getting out of depression and into happiness. But I have been doing some reading that a trip might help and I am honestly too scared to try. I don't not want to not be in control of my thoughts, body, mind or anything that will make me feel paranoid. I do consume cannabis occassionally. Maybe 3 times a week so I don't know if I should detox before a trip.

But what I am looking for in this search is if having a trip would be the right thing to do to help me fight depression?

I would understand if it is not but I would like to get some insite if it has helped anyone get out of depression, become a better person, have a better understanding of who they are and able to turn their life around and achieve more.

If this is not the right place to ask, please help me locate the right place to do so.

Thanks!
