Why do people take shrooms so lightly ?

I have hella respect for psychedelics in general. Why do people think it’s nothing like weed or alcohol? Every time I do shrooms I realize I’m not where I want to be in life. Please explain honestly I’m curious as to how people have fun and don’t judge themselves on them?
