I ordered some genetics from colorado cultures and made one shoebox and one unmodified mono-tub. (Ignore the micropore tape) Both are 3:5 grain:sub and the tub is 1.5 in deep while the shoebox is 3 in deep. The shoebox has begun pinning and the tub’s at early primordia stages. Since this strain is a PE variety, I’ve had to wait for a long time to get to this point. I want to maximize the first flush so if anyone with experience has some advice, I would greatly appreciate it.
First picture is the shoebox (pins on bottom right). Second and third pictures are the mono-tub and a close up of its surface.
I know the mono-tub looks suspicious around the edges. When I spawned it I started smelling a sweet vinegar like smell. I isolated it and after a few weeks it went away and was replaced by a strong earthy smell. After that, I haven’t had any issues with contam, but I figured I would share that because it would have weakened the mycelium.
