What’s wrong with my Ghost Shrimp? Opaque, 2 white dots, laying/swimming sideways, not moving much, etc.
Post Body

Hello, one of my adult ghost shrimp is not looking good. Pics:

See below for Problems description.

Background:

The shrimp tank (5.5g) is a few months old but established with the help of my other tank, it’s mostly ghost shrimp and one red cherry shrimp (planning on getting more). Also a zebra nerite snail and a bunch of baby assassin snails. It has an Aquaclear 30 and a sponge filter.

pH is 7.0-7.2, Ammonia is 0, Nitrite is 0.

I change the water every 1-3 weeks and change a fair amount of it (40%). I get my water directly from the LFS but I add Prime anyways, and I also use StressGuard and Flourish (asked the vet about Flourish it’s okay IF the right dosing is used).

I’ve noticed my shrimp have been less active recently.

Problems:

  • One of the shrimp is opaque and no longer see-through.

  • It has two white dots on its body, one is shown, the other is symmetric with this dot.

  • It is laying and swimming sideways and can’t seem to swim straight.

  • It hasn’t been swimming much at all except I see it’s swimmerets moving a lot, but besides that it mainly stays in one place.

I separated it from the shrimp tank in case it has something contagious (does this sound contagious? Should I treat the shrimp tank too preventatively?).

Honestly I think the sick shrimp is on its deathbed but I want to help it in case there is a chance of survival. Thanks in advance :(
