Help, scavenging? Why?

My bamboo shrimp is scavenging on the substrate, I’ve read that this is concerning behavior. Theres lots of small particles in the water collum, I feed plenty of small particles, small flake, powder, and pellets. Why does he seem to prefer this? You can even see particulate in the water in the video.
