I’m from an area where it’s not short enough for people to know you as the “short guy” and even some taller men will often point out shorter men and expect you to laugh with them about their height (I’ve had comments to me by my 5’9-5’11 friends making fun of shorter men that are also competing for the same girl that I’m trying to get with in an attempt to boost my confidence when in reality I’m only about 3-4 inches taller at MOST and 2 inches taller on average.) However, I commute to my college town and definitely feel like the shortest male in group projects. Maybe once in a blue moon I’ll be in a group project with a female taller than me but I’m still taller than 95% of females if I had to guess. It feels like you’re “barely good enough” at that height but you don’t stand out even one bit and you definitely feel short maybe 3/10 times when you’re hanging out with another male crowd

A 5'8 man is taller than like 95% of girls. Its rare a girl will be taller than you but it just stands out more when it happens so it seems more often than it is. Also heels probably boost that rate. So when you're out at night it probably goes to like 1 in 5.
Girls are pretty aware when they're wearing stilts on their feet so they're usually not giving guys a hard time about it in my experience.
