Tips and advice for a legendary Date campaign?
Post Body

Hey everyone! Preemptive warning: this might be a long post. Tl;Dr at the bottom.

Long time total war fan here. I recently started playing shogun 2 again after a while because I enjoy its challenge more so than other total war games. I never managed to complete a legendary campaign on shogun 2 though since I always end up getting crippled at some point during the early to mid campaign.

I must have tried at least 4 times with the Date on legendary before I got sick of being invaded in my capital mid-war and having to hike my army back 6 or so turns.

That being said, I'm still pretty determined to beat a legendary campaign as I've completed legendary campaigns on Rome and Rome 2 without too much of a headache. Somehow I can't wrap my head around how to dominate in Shogun 2 though lol.

Are there still any active legendary players here who might know a tip or two?

One of the things I noticed is that I make a navy specifically to counter enemy invasions deep into my territory. However it seems that despite me having 25 ships around my lands, they still always find a way to miraculously land an army somewhere hugely inconvenient. How do I become more effective at stopping those kinds of invasions?

As far as land battles are concerned, I can win them mostly efficiently except when the enemy has an archer advantage in situations where I'm already outnumbered. What do you guys recommend for those situations?

Any tips for battles in general where you're outnumbered 1 to 2 or more? I remember in Rome and Rome 2 I would barely break a sweat when I was outnumbered, yet in Shogun 2 it can sometimes be a huge deal if the enemy has only 2 units more than me.

Bombard me with any knowledge you have! I appreciate any tips you have.

Tl;Dr Experienced TW player sucks at shogun 2 legendary, any players here with some in depth tips?
