In Percy Jackson and the Olympians (2023-present) Ares threatens 3 children that he will kill them. This isn't a shitty movie detail, I just thought the actor did a pretty great performance in the role.

I actually have a pretty good guess for why they moved it, and I suspect they'll refer back to it a little more often in the intervening seasons. It's not just that the thread cutting was moved to a different point in the story, but that Annabeth witnessed it instead of Percy. I have a hunch that it won't be the only plot point that gets shifted to her either.
