Why don't we use gravity to propel stuff into space?
Post Body

Basically, a 10000 pound elephant is hard to move into space because it's so big. But what if we just used the 45 kN force of gravity acting on it to send it to the moon? By my calculations, it should accelerate upwards at a constant 9.8 m/s2 if directed correctly.
