Shiey drinks untreated river water?

Watching the Tatra Mountain Valley video and noticed shiey was just drinking water from the river?
Surely that's not safe to do is it? I've always been told it doesn't matter how clean river water is, a lot of bacteria still lives in it.
Does he just take the risk he won't get sick from it??
