Giving 3 year rabies booster ahead of schedule
Post Body

I am thinking about traveling with my shiba inu to Switzerland next spring (2024) and the requirements say he must have had a rabies booster within a year in order to obtain a valid health certificate for travel. My shiba last got his 3-year-rabies booster in June 2022, which means it will have been less than 2 years before I need to vaccinate him again. I understand that the 3 year label is just based on studies, and actually doesn't mean anything in terms of how long the vaccine is meant for (asked my vet this already ;)! ), but I would like to hear real world stories of other owners that had to get their shibas boosted early for one reason or another? Did it turn out fine? Was there something you learned through the process that would make me think twice about this? The context is I don't *have* to do this travel so I'm evaluating pros or cons. Thank you ahead of time to any input!
