But I believe the instructions are bogus. When I'm connected to the AP of the Range Extender, in step 3, I do not have internet connectivity, and therefore my attempt to "add device to my Shelly account" just hangs forever.
The device that is acting as the Range Extender (a wall dimmer) is already connected and is part of my Shelly setup. I can control it remotely. Everything works fine with that device.
The new device that I am connecting through the range extender (a Shelly 1 that controls my heating, let's call it Device A), registers itself with the RP and I can see it in the app as part of discovery. I just cannot add it to my account and make it part of my network.
Can someone who got the range extender functionality to work please provide some guidance? I am using the new Shelly Smart Cloud app in case it makes a difference.
