What exactly is Internet 600 and is it worth it?

I currently have Internet 300. I'm not on a contract, but I'm an existing Shaw customer. Is there a speed difference? I work from home and rely on the internet to for calls. My household also streams and plays online games, often the same time.
If I upgrade to Internet 600 would I get a new modem? Is that worth it? Our place is pretty small and I don't have any issues with coverage inside my house or dead zones, although the internet does cut out from time to time.
