I'm looking at getting a few stones for sharpening mostly knives. Done new knives some in use and some to restore to use. This is on a bit of a tight budget but it can be stretched if a particular stone is worth it. Mostly stainless knives, some high carbon. And one 1873 issue bayonet I still use as a hunting pig sticker. There will also be chisels axes and hooks at times. There will probably also be the odd new knife build that will go over them. I've been looking at diamond stones from 250 grit through to 1500 or 2000. Maybe around 6 in total? And a leather pad with cutting compound or diamond lapping paste on it. So a bit of a long explanation but please if I could have your opinions.
