Basically what the title says, I'm learning to sharpen my own knives and have had not as much luck as I thought, I'm currently using a victorinox fibrox knife for every day use (https://victorinox.com.au/cutlery/fibrox-carving-knife-25cm/) as well as the same in a paring knife.

I've attempted to sharpen the main knife with a sharp pebble whetstone and was able to achieve a burr and after sharpening the otherside/using higher grit it hasnt come out any sharper then when i started.

Are there any tips/trick/videos i can follow that may give me an edge (pun intended) when attempting to sharpen knives in the future.
