I first was introduced to shar peis about 25 years ago. My now ex-gf's sharpie was social, loved her and took to me pretty quick.

Hannibal (8 months old) was dropped in my lap about 4 months ago. It took a few days, but he is for sure bonded with me.

The "problem" (issue/concern) I am having is that Hannibal is a wimp. Everything scares him. I've taken him to work with me for the last 3 months and to the local Starbucks, but he's still scared of everything and everybody. Traffic noise, people, once he's out of my backyard or out of my car, he's terrified.

At home he's a total lover. Loves me and my roommate and freaks out (in a good way) when either of us come home from work.

Is the scaredy cat behavior normal for sharpies? Suggestions on how to help him?
