Couple questions on XXL (stock Z) and carbide router tolerances. I use carbide create and motion.
With different 1/4” end mills installed I get runout readings of ~.009 on my dial indicator. I’m thinking these are kind of high. A contour path will read .268 with a .25 end mill which matches the runout issue (multiple end mills used). No precision collet installed.
Now on to the shapeoko. I’ve made multiple sized squares and circles and rectangles and get the same readings, over cut by ~0.03”. Let’s just say I make a 3” by 3” square. Inside tool path will read 3.03” x 3.03” and an outside tool path will read 2.97” x 2.97”. Doesn’t matter the size or shape of what I’m cutting, always roughly ~0.03. All wheels and belts are tight, doesn’t seem to have any slop anywhere, it’s trammed. Wondering what kind of tolerances I should be expecting?
