My brother is in town from friday, and keen to get out of shanghai to see more of china (as am I!). My finances are relatively tight, so I'd love to aim for 1000, or at most 1500 kwai for 5 days out of town (including trains/food/activities etc.)
Totally happy to live on street food and take the cheap train options!
What are some good options for places that have a few days of interesting things to do, within a half days travel of shanghai (i guess by plane, bus or train if the price is right) that two non-chinese speakers can survive with google translate and gestural communication?
Open to all sorts of ideas, except theme parks/big touristy areas.
