Lips intelligence
Post Body

Is it just me or did the writers kind of totally forget how smart Lip was in the later seasons? I mean he was still smart, but he seemed super dumbed down then how he was in the beginning of the series. Like in the beginning he had a 4.5 GPA, was taking all AP classes and passed each test with flying colors even though he was barely attending classes, he successfully pulled off all kinds of illegal schemes, he was witty, he got accepted to fucking MIT of all places.

I thought Lip’s college arc was actually really good and well-done, and I thought his alcoholism was also a good arc for him, however, I think the writers really let it go after that. Basically Lip’s entire character was centered around keeping his alcoholism in check for the rest of the series, and his recovery was really the entire aspect of his character at that point. They really let go of his wittiness and his abilities to be successful, and instead based his entire character on his alcoholism. It would have been cool to see him go back to college and become successful while still dealing with the stresses of his family life and testing his recovery that way, but instead they did dumb shit like the whole thing with Sierra and then Tami. It would have also been nice for him to become successful and help out his family with the money he made.

i thought that doordash guy was going to offer him a job because of that tbh, would have been a good resolution to his story imo
