I have recently built in a Meshilicious with a 5600x and a 280 EK AIO with the standoff mod (this was originally planned to cool a 5800x but things happened and I had to settle with the 5600x) and I am almost certain that I will need to travel through air from San Jose to Los Angeles in about 4 months. I have looked through a lot of reddit and discussion post to see about AIO for air travel since I know this AIO most definitely has more liquid than the limit and it has been inconclusive since many warned against it while others have posted success story. After some considerations I have narrowed down to 3 options and I would like to have an input for which I should follow through:
- Just go with it and hope the TSA on that day is not having a bad day
- Remove the standoff mod and install a temporary air cooler
- Check the entire pc altogether (I have a pretty good suitcase that I can fit it in with a decent amount of protection)
- Remove the aio and put it in checked baggage with my monitor while I carry the rest of the PC onto the plane (just need to bring a screwdriver and thermal paste)
- Just rebuild it in a NR200p or something similar with aircooling to prevent headaches from now on and return the AIO.
Thank you
