Planning first time PC build. Please give any advice
Post Body

Hey everybody. I'm looking to build my first PC and finally ditch the "gaming" laptop scene.

My only requirement is that it has to be SFF and portable. I work onboard a ship as an engineer for a month at a time so will be toting this back and forth every 4 weeks.

I believe I'll be going with this as a case once it's released: http://zaber.com.pl/sentry/

This is my parts list (the node 202 is a placeholder SFF case): http://pcpartpicker.com/list/hp6cbj

I appreciate any feedback. My thought process is that since I do some light 3D modeling as a hobby for 3D printing, the i7 would win out over the i5 due to hyperthreading even though I'll mostly be using this as a gaming PC and getting a Vive or Rift later. I don't see any advantage to getting the 6700k versus the non-K since I won't be overclocking anything

Please let me know what you think. I'm excited to build my first PC and get even more into PC gaming. Also, if you have any reasonably priced 1440p monitor recommendations, that would be cool as well. Thanks!
