I won’t go into details but was sexually assaulted around 17 and 23 years old (24 now). Going to the gynecologist has always been uncomfortable and annoying in the past before the SA but now I have SEVERE panic attacks before during and after going for an breast or pelvic exam. I have had gyno doctors that were not very sympathetic which made my anxiety worse. Unfortunately I have to go to the gyno yearly to get my prescribed birth control (on it for my periods, don’t want to get off of it). My question is, how should I go about dealing with this considering I can’t just not go to the dr. I’ve tried a low dose of anxiety meds and will be trying a stronger dose next time but what other psychological ways can I go about treating this to ease my PTSD?
