so this happened a couple months ago and i still can’t believe it went down the way it did. i work in a pretty chill office, and my boss (let’s call her emily) is one of those cool, laid-back types who’s closer to our age than most bosses. she’s only like 8 years older than me, so we’ve always kinda vibed well.

one friday after work, the whole team went out for drinks. usual happy hour stuff, nothing crazy at first. but after most of the group left, it was just me and emily still at the bar. i honestly didn’t think much of it since we’ve hung out casually before, but this time was… different.

we started talking about relationships, and she told me she’d just broken up with her long-term boyfriend. i told her i was single too, and we kinda joked about how dating sucks these days. but then, outta nowhere, she asked, “have you ever thought about us… like, in another context?”

i laughed it off at first, thinking she was joking, but she just gave me this look. like, dead serious but also playful? it’s hard to describe. and before i knew it, we were flirting. like, openly flirting.

we ended up sharing an uber back to her place “because it was on the way.” and yeah… you can guess what happened next. i’d be lying if i said it wasn’t amazing, but it was also so surreal.

the next morning was weirdly normal. she made coffee, we talked like nothing major happened, and i left. we haven’t talked about it since, and everything at work has been completely normal. it’s like it didn’t even happen.

but sometimes, when we’re in meetings and she’s talking, i’ll catch her looking at me for just a second too long. and honestly? i don’t know how to feel about it.
