It’s been quite a few years since we did anything like this: asking our readers to share aspects of their sex life.
We’re going to start by opening to this to folks who’ve been in a long-term relationship of 5 years or longer (we’ll create similar threads for those in shorter term relationships and those single/dating too).
Folks don’t need to answer every one of these questions, since not all of them may apply to your situation. And obviously, only share what you’re comfortable with:
The Basics
- Describe your relationship by age, gender and how long the two of have been together, e.g. 42f, 41m, 11 years)
- Relationship status, e.g. married/cohabitating/LTR but separate households/long-distance/etc.
- Monogamous? Open? Poly? "It's complicated"?
- Are you raising children together and if so, roughly what ages?
Your Sex Life
- In a sentence, describe the current state of your sex life?
- How well matched are the two of you in terms of libido?
- How often per week or month are you two sexually intimate? (Not limited only to PIV)
- What's good about your sex life, overall?
- What's challenging about it?
- Over the course of this relationship, would you say the quality of sex has improved? Declined? Stayed the same?
What's On the Menu?
- What's in the regular rotation, e.g. oral, PIV, mutual masturbatiom, anal, etc.?
- What are the "special" things you two enjoy but you don't do frequently?
- What have you two discussed possibly doing but you haven't gotten there yet?
- What activities do the two of you enjoy the most?
- Is there something you or your partner likes/wants that the other does not? If so, how do the two of you navigate that difference?)
Wrapping Up*
What's the best advice you'd give people about making sex consistently fulfilling in a LTR?
(Is there anything we didn't ask but should have?)
Next time, we'll set this up for people who are in newer relationships and a third for those who are single/dating.
