The Baby Shower is probably my 2nd favorite episode after "They shoot single people, don't they?".

I watched The Baby Shower episode with a friend sometime last year and we had a discussion about it.

After the baby shower, Laney called and said they should hang out. Carrie said that Samantha was having one of her parties and Laney really wanted to go, but Carrie blew her off and said next time. Then Laney shows up, and we all know what happened next.

From my perspective, Laney could have continued having contact with the ladies and going to Samantha's parties. Of course, she does have a new life and family, but why couldn't she, for example, go to the city once every few months for a night out with the girls? Maybe once a quarter or so to Samantha's parties?

It felt kinda sad because she had a new life and was mourning the old life, but why can't she have her cake and eat it too? Even if it is just once per season/quarter?

My friend said back then maybe it wasn't possible or the ladies and Laney didn't think of this idea, but now, it would be more possible to do something like that. Could the time period be a factor too?
