Sex on her period, tips?

I (18M) and my girlfriend (18F) are planning to have sex on her period. We have only done this once by accident because when we did the deed she hadn't been bleeding so we went for it and there was a small puddle of blood but now we have agreed to try it because I've heard it can be more intense for females. So I'm asking what are my do's and don'ts for having sex while she's on her period just so I can make life easy for the both of us. Cheers
