I’m a 23 year old Male, recently found out that I have a UTI. Had all the usual symptoms (increased urge to pee, painful urination, slight fever, waking up needing to pee) and went to the doctors who did a urinalysis showing nitrites and blood in urine and was diagnosed with a UTI and been prescribed the relevant antibiotics.
I’ve read online that UTIs in men, especially young, are uncommon. And that they can often be a sign of something else causing an underlying cause. I keep on reading that STDs commonly induce a UTI, this is really scary prospect for the following reason.
I’m in a long term committed relationship (5 months), I’ve not been with anybody else during the relationship. We both took STD tests at the beginning of the relationship which showed up clean. Prior to this relationship, I did sleep with a girl once 3-4 weeks prior to the test, but from my understanding that would’ve fallen in the test window for gonorrhoea/chlamydia, making it accurate. I’ve had zero reason previous to this to suspect any sort of cheating by my GF and I’m struggling to believe it. Making it worse is that we just got back from a holiday abroad.
Will obviously be getting an STD test, but will have to wait till after Christmas unfortunately. I’m really struggling to enjoy the holiday with this thought lingering in my head. Has anyone had any similar/relevant experiences? Would love to hear…
