Hi everyone,
I’m a 33-year-old male. About three months ago, I had unprotected sex, and shortly after, I started experiencing some unusual symptoms: a strange sensation in my lower abdomen, like a loss of sensitivity (numbness) and tingling, almost like a pinching feeling. I ignored it at first, I thought it was stress... but about a month later, the symptoms worsened: strong lower abdominal pain, fever-like sensations, joint pain, weakness, and fatigue.
Initially, I thought it might be a seasonal virus, but after three weeks, I became concerned and went to my doctor. He ran routine tests (bloodwork, stool tests, etc.), but nothing conclusive came up. At 2.5 months post-exposure, I decided to get tested for STIs because I was desperate for answers.
The results showed I was positive for chlamydia. However, my doctor was skeptical that it was the cause of my symptoms, as he said these symptoms aren’t typical. I sought a second opinion from a specialist, who told me chlamydia could indeed cause lower abdominal pain and recommended me to complete a treatment course of doxycycline (2x/day for 7 days) and retest after 1–2 months.
I finished the antibiotics six days ago, but my symptoms (abdominal pain, tingling, etc.) are still present. This has me worried—was chlamydia really the cause, or is something else going on? Should I wait longer for the symptoms to subside after treatment? How long will it usually take?
I’ve read other posts suggesting chlamydia can cause lower abdominal pain, but I’m feeling desperate and unsure. Any advice or similar experiences would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks in advance!
Ps: I had no genitals related symptoms.. Just that I go urinating very often and drink a lot of water
