Anon for obvious reasons... I'm someone with a positive blood test for HSV2 but have never had an outbreak in my entire life. I only recently had those tests included in my panel because my previous doctor didn't include them. It was a shock to get a positive blood test for HSV2 when I've never had an outbreak. Ever. My doctor thinks I might've been exposed but maybe I fought the actual infection. All we know is the blood test is positive and I have been given anti-virals. Anything that has looked weird has been swabbed and is negative. None of my last three partners I've been unsafe with (mutual trust) don't have it after being with me.
I've read a lot of conflicting things online like you can have it but never had an outbreak. Don't bother testing for it unless you have symptoms. I've shared this is a friend who said it's really only my business. I don't want to potentially put someone else at risk but I've never had an outbreak, even during an extremely stressful time in my life. I want to respect someone's own sexual autonomy but I honestly don't think I have it, I just have the antibody for it, similar to when you get a vaccine. What are your thoughts about this? TIA.
