Could my IUD be the reason for painful sex?

Post Body

I’m a 25F and my husband is a 25M. Im on my second IUD, my first one became embedded in my uterine wall so it was removed and a new one was inserted. After the First IUD there was little to no pain with intercourse, but after a few months the pain became unbearable. I explained to my OBGYN that I have a tendency to vehemently encourage my partner to be rougher and it was suggested he may have been part of the reason for the shifting of the IUD. The old IUD was replaced after only having been in place for a little over a year, and a new one was put in place. There has been no change in pain level. I’ve talked to my doctor and she’s informed me we’re at a point where we take it out completely and go back to pills or we consider a vasectomy for my husband.

Reasoning for minimal female birth control options: I have migraines with auras and due to this being on contraception with progesterone and estrogen enhances my chances of stroke. My only options are non hormonal or progesterone only birth control medications and or implants. I don’t know if I want kids, so I’m not sure I want to talk to my husband about realistically getting a vasectomy. Can they truly be undone? Condoms are effective but I have a serious latex allergy that causes itching and burning following the use of condoms- and let’s be real it’s NOT the same. I used to have a high sex drive and I still do, but it’s painful to act on it and think about it. When I get aroused my abdomen and back start aching, could there be a hormonal reason for this?? I want to have sex, I want to have it be as rough or as gentle as we want, I don’t want to worry about passing out from pain but I’m not ready for kids either. I do have a tilted and semi shallow uterus so I’m sure this could be a contributing factor as well. For reference, husband is larger than average (7.5/8in).

TLDR; are vasectomies reversible? Can an IUD be the reason for painful intercourse and pre intercourse arousal pain?
