To preface, I have completed treatment and am chlamydia free so don’t worry about that. However, I am confused. I tested positive for chlamydia recently and I'm trying to figure out when and from whom I contracted it. Here’s the timeline:

• I had an LDR boyfriend, on and off, from September 2021 - January 2024. When I slept with people when we were ‘off’ I always got tested, and tested negative.
• September 2023: I slept with 2 people without a condom a few days apart. But tested negative 5 days later (which I now realize could have been too soon to detect).
• October 2023-Jan 2024: I had unprotected sex with my LDR on and off partner multiple times (at least 10) in October 2023 and January 2024. We stopped speaking for a while over Xmas, he could’ve possibly slept with someone then. In fact he could’ve slept with people during any of our off periods as it wouldn’t be my prerogative to ask.
• July 2024: Unprotected sex with someone else 2x, I initially thought he had given it to me - he tested negative (verified with a screenshot).
• July 2024: I had protected sex for like 10 seconds, and unprotected oral sex (BJ), with a new guy, whom I haven’t informed as I assume it’s not from him.
  
• August 2024: Unprotected sex with another guy who also tested negative (verified with a screenshot).
• September 2024: Positive result.

I’m unsure how I got it. Here are my thoughts:

1. September 2023 partner(s): Could I have had it since then without symptoms? Wouldn’t I have developed more serious issues by now? I often get pelvic pain, due to PCOS and bladder problems, but I feel like symptoms would be more extreme if I’d have had chlamydia for a year?
2. Summer 2024 partners: Could one of them have a false negative?
3. LDR boyfriend: Could he have given it to me in October or January after sleeping with someone else without telling me during our breaks? I always assumed he wasn’t having sex with other people, he just didn’t seem like that type of guy and is quite shy, but I guess I shouldn’t assume especially if we weren’t officially together.
4. Was it a false positive?

If you think it’s my ex, any advice on how to approach him? We’ve been speaking after no contact for 6 months, he reached out to me.
