Been married for 3 years and my wife tested positive for chlamydia

Post Body

Me and my wife had gotten an itching sensation in our private area and had to pee frequently so we assumed it might have been a UTI due to the fact that this has happened in the past about 2 years ago. We both got tested and it came back as a UTI and came back negative for STI’s. Last week she went to get tested to see if she could get antibiotics for the UTI, fast forward to this morning she texts me and is in shambles because the doctor said she tested positive for chlamydia. I have been faithful and haven’t been with anyone else and she says the same thing as well. I know that chlamydia can be dormant either I could’ve had it or she could’ve had it and not known, but this is what’s odd about this whole situation.

Before we started dating I had gotten tested for STI’s and so did she and we both tested negative, we also got tested 2 years ago and it also came back negative. A year ago she got tested and the results came back negative.

Here is the thing, the itching sensation I feel now I have felt before about 5-6 years ago, I got checked and got negative results. And I would say the itching sensation has came back seldomly and short lived(once every 6 months), maybe 2-3 days and it would be gone. I would say in the 5-6 years that I had the sensation I probably got tested 3 times and in that duration I have never came back positive for chlamydia or anything else. But the itching sensation now is a bit more intense after peeing and I have to pee more often now.

I immediately got tested after my wife told me her results, The doctor told me I do not have a UTI and I communicated my wife’s results and he immediately prescribed me antibiotics for chlamydia because my partners results.

What I’m confused about is if the chlamydia was dormant I’m pretty sure it would’ve still came back positive. We don’t use protection so if I had it she would have it too and vice versa (I’m not a doctors I’m just assuming). I don’t know what to think and I don’t want to jump to conclusions. I’m awaiting my lab results. Me and my wife are freaking out and there is tension between us because of this, we both don’t want to assume cheating but we can’t make sense of this.
