hi so, my fwb and i are planning on meeting up next saturday (so, in 6 days), however he let me know that he is recovering from a cold sore. the blister stage is over and its just scabs, so it should be fully healed by then, however ive read online that HSV can still be spread for like a week after its fully healed (and even then can be spread by asymptomatic shedding). i have a few questions:

1. what is oral like with dental dams? i've never used them before
2. in the first place, would receiving oral sex from him using a dental dam even be safe? i'm very much so willing to abstain from oral, but what about him kissing other parts of my skin? can it be transferred there?

he's a busy guy and we're somewhat long distance so I very much do not want to cancel (and its been a long time and i really want to see him), but i also dont want to get genital herpes, is this too risky or should I be okay? thanks in advance
