I recently started dating someone who told me after we had already been kissing that they have herpes. I am assuming they have gential. I plan to ask more tomorrow.

If they have gential herpes can I continue to kiss them and not contract HSV-1 or 2? Given they have no outbreak?

If they have oral herpes, should we just not kiss at all any more?

They told me they haven’t had an outbreak in 3 years.

I’ve never experienced an intimate partner with this diagnosis and am trying my best to understand and educate myself.
