My (20M) girlfriend (24F) has herpes, she takes preventive medication, has good hygiene and has only had one outbreak which is when she realized she had it. How likely is it for me get it from her? I love her, and I don't mind using a condom, but I admit I'm a virgin and although I know a bit about sex I'm not very well informed when it comes to herpes, I know that it's harder to pass from female to male, but I'm genuinely just looking for tips and some advice to have a healthier sex life with her, I've heard about couples who have been together for 15 years and one of them is infected and yet their partner has never caught it, and they rarely use protection, only proper treatment and medication, any help or piece of advice will be appreciated from me and her, thanks in advance.
Edit: she has HSV2
The drugs are the real prevention. Skin to skin can transmit so condoms only help a little. Itβs not a big deal but I understand not wanting it.
