So i am currently making trans man cloth packers (basically a prosthetic willy haha) and because it’s something meant to stay in someone’s pants for a whole day’s worth, i opted to use 100% cotton. only problem is that i’m getting bearding using poly-fil and i read somewhere that cotton batting can get mold or mildew if not dried all the way and i don’t want to risk that considering how intimate this product would be.
does the spraying water with anti-static dryer sheets actually work? according to every video i’ve ever seen, i always see them use cotton fabric and poly fill but have not seen any visible bearding, and those with e t s y s h o p s have also not had any reviews commenting on the issue. if i were to use some fabric such as silk, would the bearding still happen? any advice is appreciated!
EDIT: i just had a random thought… what if i use plush yarn scraps as stuffing instead of the poly fill? my partner is conveniently a plush yarn enthusiast for their crochet plushies and has a lot of scraps. or should i consider scrap fabric for filling instead?
