Muslin for nightgown?

I really want to make some lightweight nightgowns. I normally don't wear pyjamas so it's really important that it doesn't get too hot.
Would muslin be too thin for this? I'm a bit worried about wear and tear as I toss and turn quite a bit. I wouldn't wear it out of the house except perhaps to plug in my car.
I have an opportunity to buy a 30m x 62" roll and would have a lot of other uses for it as I have a 1 year old.
